Transfr Single Sign-on and Rostering Integration with Clever

Table of Contents

To meet growing demand to simplify password management and improve security, Transfr integrates with the most common Student Information Systems (SISs), Learning Management Systems (LMSs), and education platforms to provide single sign-on (SSO) and rostering capabilities.

Available immediately is our integration with Clever, the SSO and rostering system used by approximately 75% of K-12 schools in the United States. This represents just the beginning of our commitment to meeting schools’ integration needs.

Removing Barriers to VR Learning Adoption

For educational institutions, managing separate login credentials for every learning platform creates significant challenges. IT administrators face security concerns with multiple password systems, while teachers spend valuable time troubleshooting login issues instead of focusing on instruction. Many schools are actively reducing or eliminating software that doesn’t integrate with their existing identity management systems.

Transfr’s SSO and rostering integrations address these challenges for schools using Clever by:

  • Eliminating password management overhead for IT teams
  • Reducing security risks associated with multiple credential systems
  • Streamlining access to Transfr’s VR learning experiences
  • Automating the synchronization of classroom data

Instead of being a barrier to adoption, user authentication and classroom setup now become simple, automated processes that work with the systems schools already have in place.

What This Means for Transfr Customers

Transfr SSO and rostering integration with Clever delivers several immediate benefits to organizations using  Transfr:

  • Single click access to Transfr: Students and teachers can now access Transfr with a single click, with no separate passwords to remember.
  • Enhanced Security: By reducing the number of login credentials, schools can strengthen their overall security posture while simplifying access.
  • Automated Classroom Management: Transfr’s rostering capability automatically syncs with student information systems, ensuring students are always in the right virtual classroom with the right content—no manual setup required. Daily synchronization keeps everything current as class compositions change.
  • Rapid Implementation: District administrators can enable Transfr for classrooms so students and teachers can use the platform immediately with their existing credentials, significantly reducing implementation time and tech support requirements.

Looking Ahead

Transfr is committed to supporting integration standards (like Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and OneRoster) and expanding integration with popular identify management systems.

Our goal is to remove technical barriers so educators and workforce development teams can focus on what matters most—providing learners with high-quality immersive learning experiences that prepare them for future careers.

FAQs About Transfr SSO

Which SSO providers does Transfr support?

Transfr currently supports Clever, which is used by approximately 75% of K-12 schools in the United States. We’re actively expanding our integration capabilities to cover many additional providers this year. We’re also implementing standards-based integrations through OneRoster and LTI to enable bespoke integrations with virtually any identity management system.

Automated rostering synchronizes student, teacher, and classroom data from your school district’s student information system to Transfr through providers like Clever. Instead of manually creating accounts and assigning students to classes, the system automatically syncs your existing organizational structures, ensuring students and teachers access the right content in the right virtual classrooms. Daily synchronization keeps everything current as class compositions change.

Implementation is fast and easy, and our support team will assist throughout the entire implementation process:

  1. The District IT admin shares classroom and student data with Transfr through your SSO provider (like Clever)
  2. Transfr Support maps external school IDs to internal Transfr organizations
  3. The system initializes and sets up daily synchronization
  4. Students and teachers can then log in through the SSO provider with no separate passwords needed.

Transfr’s Support team will guide you throughout the process.

Learners and administrators can log into the Transfr Trek (Career Exploration) web/mobile experience, as well as the Transfr Dashboard, using SSO.  However, to access VR simulations in Transfr Trek or Transfr Virtual Training Facility,  learners must first log into the Transfr Student Dashboard using their SSO credentials, then generate a Sim Code or use an instructor-generated Sim Pass to access their assigned simulations on the VR headset. This approach maintains security while providing seamless access to VR content.

Since direct SSO login isn’t available on VR headsets, we’ve enabled two easy authentication methods that maintain security while providing convenient access to assigned simulations:

  • Student-generated Sim Code: Students log into the Transfr Student Dashboard via SSO, navigate to their simulation, and generate a 3-digit code to enter on their VR headset.
  • Instructor-generated Sim Pass: Teachers can generate a 5-digit Sim Pass for multiple students from the Transfr Dashboard, which students then enter on their VR headsets.

To use Transfr with Clever SSO, your school or district must have an active Clever account with administrator privileges to configure data sharing. Your organization needs to be structured with one parent organization per opportunity and one child organization per school. Students and teachers need active accounts in your Clever directory, and your IT administrator will need to configure the integration through the Transfr Dashboard.

Transfr provides comprehensive support resources, including implementation documentation, training materials for admins and teachers, and direct assistance from our support team. For specific implementation questions or to request SSO and rostering capabilities for your organization, submit a ticket via our Tech Support portal or send an email to technicalsupport@transfrvr.com. Our team will then guide you through the onboarding process.
