Program at a Glance

The Fundamental Skills program uses multimodal learning experiences to prepare learners for continued education in the trades and technical pathways. Through immersive VR simulations, students develop core technical competencies in safety, tool use, electrical fundamentals, material handling, and precision measurement. No prior experience required.

  • 70 VR simulations across 6 topic areas

  • Closed captioning on all simulations

  • Approximately 13 hours of engaging experiences

  • Student activity bundles with answer keys

  • Digital badges earned for each completed topic

  • Instructor dashboard to track progress

A Strategic Foundation for Your CTE Ecosystem

On-Ramp to Technical Pathways

Give every learner a first taste of technical work that builds confidence and readiness before they choose a pathway.

Supplemental CTE Experiences

Extend practice beyond the constraints of equipment and scheduling, allowing learners to practice with tools and safety procedures, even without dedicated lab access.

Browse the Curriculum

Fundamental Skills covers the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills learners need across most trade or technical pathways. Each topic area includes a structured sequence of VR simulations and available classroom activities. Learners are awarded a shareable digital badge upon completion of each unit, giving educators and facilitators clear evidence of progress.

Workplace Safety

(18 simulations, 3.3 hours)

Learners practice essential safety procedures, including PPE usage, fire extinguisher operation, lockout/tagout, ladder and scaffold safety, hazardous materials handling, and accident prevention awareness.

Hand Tools

(5 simulations, 1.1 hours)

Learners identify, inspect, and safely use common hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, and layout tools like squares and levels.

Power Tools

(12 simulations, 2.6 hours)

Learners inspect and safely operate various electric and pneumatic power tools including saws, drills, grinders, and impact wrenches while following proper safety procedures.

Electrical Fundamentals

(6 simulations, 2 hours)

Learners explore electrical circuits and Ohm's Law, use multimeters to measure voltage and current, perform basic soldering, and assemble and wire variable speed motors.

Safe Material Handling

(8 sims, 2.1 hours)

Learners practice safe lifting techniques, operate material handling equipment like pallet jacks, understand rigging basics with slings and hitches, and work safely around hoists and cranes.

Math & Measurement

(21 simulations, 2.2 hours)

Learners develop precision measurement skills by simplifying fractions, rounding decimals, and using various measurement tools including rules, calipers, and micrometers to take accurate measurements.

Ready-to-Use Curriculum Resources

The Fundamental Skills program includes a curriculum planner, student activity bundles with answer keys, and a complete VR syllabus for every unit. Resources are designed for educators to integrate into existing courses or run as a standalone program. Use them to plan your schedule, assess learner progress, and document program alignment from day one.
