As we approach mid-year, we want to provide an update on the new product innovations that we’ve delivered over the past few months (and a sneak peak into what’s coming soon) to strengthen communities by getting more people on a pathway to upward mobility. These innovations have been designed to empower learners and educators alike by making career exploration and training more accessible, engaging, and aligned with real-world opportunities.
Earlier this year we launched Transfr Trek, the first XR-based multi-modal solution for career exploration. It’s designed to help youth and adult learners find a viable pathway to a well-paying career by delivering an integrated experience across mobile, virtual reality, and curriculum resources, making career exploration more accessible and engaging than ever before.
Since the launch of Transfr Trek, we’ve continued to add new features for both learners and administrators. And existing Career Exploration customers get all these upgrades included with their existing license.
Career Awareness – Learners can now embark on their career discovery journey through a mobile-enabled web experience, enabling access anytime, anywhere to real-time jobs outlook, wage data, regional pathways, and personalized career matching with over 125 occupations such as Air Traffic Controller, Surgical Technologist, and Robotics Specialist–with many additional occupations being added every quarter.
Career Experience – Learners can interact with approximately 50 role-specific VR simulations that offer a virtual “day-in-the-life” experience of various professions such as Surgical Technologist and with Knee Surgery (Health Science) and Cybersecurity Analyst. All simulations are now available with Spanish language options and closed captioning–with many additional simulations being added every quarter.
Career Planning – Learners can use tools to set career goals, publish and share their action plan, explore training, certification, and college pathway information, and track their career plan progress.
Career Exploration Curriculum Resources were built by teachers for teachers, and are free to all customers that have a Transfr Trek license. This resource includes daily lesson plans, detailed scripts, presentation slides, and student handouts to help you seamlessly integrate Transfr VR simulations into your existing learning programs. All lessons map to modern learning standards such as Common Core, 21st Century Skills/CTE, ISTE, and ASCA College & Career Readiness to prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
We’ve made huge strides in management and security features to give Transfr administrators more control, but also less stress! These new tools make it easy to manage and administer a Transfr implementation:
Mission Control – enables instructors and administrators to monitor Transfr Trek VR simulations in real-time. It allows for tracking simulation progress, headset connection status, and overall user activity from a single, convenient dashboard.
Rostering and SSO (Single Sign-On)- Transfr now integrates with common education platforms like Canvas, Clever and ClassLink so that classroom data is automatically synchronized. This enables students and teachers to access Transfr with a single click, eliminating password management overhead for IT teams and reducing security risks associated with multiple credential systems.
Sim Pass – This feature enables learners to quickly transition from the mobile-enabled web environment to a related VR simulation by entering a 5-digit code to quickly log in to their headset and start their desired sim, bypassing manual login steps that can take valuable classroom time.
Menu Builder – Makes it easy to customize Transfr’s industry leading VR training content library to your classrooms specific scope and sequence. Easily hide, show, or reorder any simulations.
Bulk Rostering – Enables you to upload up to 1,000 learner accounts at a time so you can set up your classrooms in Transfr without having to upload multiple times. Carry on with your tasks while Transfr efficiently handles your uploads in the background.
QR Code Learner Account Creation– Student self-sign-up by scanning a QR code–great for career fairs where you need to get new learners into a headset quickly.
To help educators leverage the new products and capabilities we’ve built–and to maximize the impact of VR in their classrooms–Transfr now provides Professional Learning services designed to:
